The day we came back to UAE

So, this is the day that we finally have to go back to Dubai. We were all very sad but we knew we will go again next time. After we said bye we left to Colombo airport. It was a very long journey but eventually we got there. Meanwhile my mum got us a very tasty rice and we ate it. On the flight I was very sleepy and fell asleep straight away. I even missed my meal!  

Once we arrived at Dubai Airport, my dad was there to pick us up. I was so happy to see him. Then, we finally arrived at our home. That was the end of my summer vacation in Sri Lanka for 2023.

My first visit to the Dental

On an extremely hot day, my mom took me to get my teeth cleaned. It was my first time going to the dentist and I was so excited to get my teeth cleaned. We were going to Asiri hospital in Kandy. 

Once we arrived the doctor told me how to brush better than how I do it now. Then she took a tool called a scale and cleaned my teeth. Another doctor was holding a miniature vacuum to take the dirty parts out. It didn’t hurt when she was touching the teeth but it hurt a little bit when she touched the gums. 

Then when my teeth were finally done, we said thank you and went home. I was really happy. That was the end for that day.

Animal day

Well, what a day. It all started when the person who cut the grass on our yard came back up with a tortoise from the stream. There are a lot of tortoises there. It would not come out as it was scared at first, but after a while, it was completely out of its shell. For a tortoise, it was very fast. 

It went zooming into its hiding place which was far away in 20 seconds. Then, it crawled off to some place in the yard. We  and didn’t see it again that day.

That was not the only animal story that day. There was yet another monkey attack in my stay. And, they attacked 3 times that day. The first time, I was asleep and my grandma saw it happen. She told me that our dog barked at it and scared it away. Second time, I was outside playing with my friends when Venuli (one of my friends) saw a monkey running along our walls. Luckily we chased it away. Third and final one was still when my friends were still there. I saw a monkey too. You will never believe what it was trying to do. It was climbing down the drainpipe into our yard! My dog chased it away. That was the end for that day.

My cooking experience in Sri Lanka

One afternoon, I called my friends from the neighboring house to come over. When they came , we all went to the backyard and started to make "Sellang bath" which is the Sinhalese version for cooking real rice by children. " Sellang Bath" is where kids get together and make real rice and curry in a brick stove. We found sticks and made a fire to cook the food.

The Grown ups helped with the fire. My friend brought green salad too. After cooking, we washed some banana leaves and put them on the top of our plates. That is one of the traditional ways to eat rice in Sri Lanka. 

After cooking, we all ate together.
